Learn How to Hide His Word in Your Heart
We are called to memorize scriptures, so we can hide His Word in our hearts. This web site is designed to help you to locate the promises of God that you can rely upon, in order to stand firm in your faith, and confess His promises, until you receive answers to your prayers. There are promises God has provided us with for all of our needs, and it just takes a little effort to find the ones that line up with what we are believing for. As you begin to do this, you will broaden your experience with God's Word and your understanding of His will for your life, as well as learning how to which will help you to encourage others who are going through the same or similar circumstances.
These references are also helping us do the same, and we will continue to add more pertinent scriptures, as we discover them for different or specific needs. Did you know that there are not only small groups of churches getting together to study the word of God, or to pray for one another, but that there are also groups that are formed specifically to help each other memorize scripture. It takes making an effort, just as it took effort when we had to memorize our multiplication tables when we were kids. Today, if someone were to ask you what 7 x 7 was, I'm sure you would quickly give the correct answer of 49. If we were aware of the importance of hiding God's words in our heart, our parents would have had us memorizing every scripture having to do with every circumstance we will ever experience in our lives in order to prepare us to depend on God's promises for every need.
It takes Time, Willingness, and Effort!
Just as we have to intentionally walk by faith in love, we also need to intentionally spend time studying the Word of God in order to show ourselves approved. We need to honor God by making a point to renew our minds on a daily basis - through prayer and reading of the Word - even if we have to wake up earlier in order to fit it into our schedules. In addition, we need to make a list of God's promises that we are depending on for an answer to prayer and change of circumstances. As you read and study the Word, you will run across scriptures that jump off the page at you. Most people may underline them, or go over them with a highlighter, but if you begin to make a list, over time, your list will grow and, eventually, you will have a list of scriptures for every need.
The good news is that all you have to do is start out with one (1) scripture! It is an intentional effort that we need to make in order to live in peace and make things happen in our lives. For example, if you had a favorite scripture memorized for when you are stressed out, you can say it, out loud, until you feel the peace of the Lord. On the other hand, if you have a specific scripture that you are depending on, and everything appears to be coming against you, you can quote that scripture, believing God's promises over the temporary circumstances. In so doing, we are purposefully putting on the armour of God (Eph. 6) and by memorization of scriptures, we can meditate on them "day and night", whereever we might be when the need arises.
God's Word Works for Christans & Non-Christians Alike!
Stormie Omartian (author of many books on prayer) spoke about her Christian friend before she became a believer, who told her to speak the name of Jesus whenever she woke up in the middle of the night from the same nightmare she had been experiencing for years. The next time she woke up in a sweat, she remembered what her friend told her, and started saying "Jesus, Jesus, Jesus!!!" until a sudden peace came over her. Isn't it funny that speaking God's word works for believers and non-believers alike! The reason is because when you put His words in your mouth, you are mixing your faith with His to make it happen. You might not see results immediately, but they will be manifested in the physical as you believe Him for His promises, and the answers to your prayer by speaking what He already said about the situation.
It's Never Too Late to Get Started!
Think about how many verses of the Bible you would have memorized by now if you started a year ago, and only memorized one per week, or even one per month? Or ten years from today if it was only one every-other month? All it takes is finding one scripture to memorize and focus on for answered prayer to get started, and just make an effort to add to the list. If we start today, by focusing on God's answers for us, and storing His Word in our hearts, then we will be better equipped to weather whatever storms life puts in front of us in the future, and help others out along the way.
Isn't that what we're here for? To walk in love and in peace as Christ did?
...To encourage, interceed and support one another with love?
Let's make a commitment to ourselves to start memorizing scriptures, and begin storing God's Word inside our hearts, beginning today!
Just find the simplest one, and memorize it, and we're on our way!
For example, my personal favorite, that can be used for every purpose, is Philippians 4:13, which reads "I can do all things through Christ Jesus who strengthens me". Remember, we have the mind of Christ and if we ask Him, then He will help to guide us toward the right promises to believe Him for - in any particular circumstance in our lives. Without Him we can do nothing, but through Him, all things are possible!!!
