What exactly is "Christian prayer" anyway? Do you think Christians pray differently? Not knowing how other people pray and being a Christian, I believe Christian prayer is praying from your heart.... but doesn't everyone do that? I have no idea whether non-Christians pray from their heart... if they just chant or say things they are told to say, but how do we know whether those thing aren't coming from their heart?

Christian prayer is biblical:

One thing is for certain. Christian prayer is biblical, and many Christians believe that in order to have an effective prayer life, one must declare the Word. For example, where heaing is concerned, you research all the healing scriptures (and there is a page on this site full of them for your edification) and pray according to His Word........

God's Word is clear on the subject of healing. The Bible says that God "…sent His word and healed them,…" (Psalms 107:20) and it declares that Jesus Christ is the "changeless" One, "the same yesterday, today, and forever" (Hebrews 13:8). The more you read and understand the Word of God, the more your faith will grow, as you believe His Word to be Truth, because your Word level is your Faith level.

When you pray the answer, rather than focusing on the problem, not only will you see results by agreeing with what God has already said about you, but it will strengthen your faith as you grow in the truth. In the interim, as you speak the words of God walking around your house, driving in your car, to yourself when others are around, meditating on His words day and night and hiding His word in your heart, you will become stronger in your faith. Learning how to stand on truth will give you the ability not only to pass this test, whatever difficulty you are experiencing at this time, but all those that are placed before you in the future, through standing strong on your faith in the truth of His word for the rest of your life. This is what is commonly referred to as living from glory to glory, in Him.

The purpose may be just that: to strengthen your faith! Obviously we don't know what God's purpose is, and He may or may not reveal the purpose; but it may only be disclosed to us by taking us through different experiences in the process. In fact, often-times His time is the eleventh hour, in order to test us, and we need to stand firm on His promises. For us, it is usually not until after we have gone through what He has placed before us - or allowed in our lives - that we come to a full understanding of His reasoning. At that point, we will agree that we wouldn't have wanted it any other way; in other words, the end result was well worth the battle in getting there. In essence, what we learn from one battle will equip us for the next, or give us the ability to encourage others who are going through the same or similar experience. Daily Christian Prayer:

Daily Christian prayer, however, when you just want to talk to the Lord about what is going on in your life that is bothering you, for example, I can't see using scriptures in this type of prayer. What is praying, anyway? Some people really want to be reverant and use words like "thou" and sound formal, but mostly prayer is just communicating with the Lord. Prayer, to me, comes from your heart and might sound like you're talking to your family or your friends... a little more "casual" than that.

No one needs to talk any certain way to the Lord, so if you don't know how to pray, then just start talking to Him and stop wasting time trying to figure out of there is a certain protocal.... because despite what a lot of books say on how you should do it? The Lord just wants to hear from you. Speak from your heart. If you don't know what to say, act like your sitting down with an old friend you haven't seen in a long time.... and you have so much to say that time just flies by and you didn't even realize you'd been there for two hours.... but talking to the Lord. And, by the way, HE IS YOUR OLDEST AND DEAREST FRIEND!!!!! Simply stated: Christian prayer is talking to your Lord on a very personal and intimate basis.
